The Shobe Startup Prize

The Shobe Prize was an annual competition generously sponsored by HCDE alumnus and startup entrepreneur, Matt Shobe, from 2011-2015.

Student teams pitched ideas for innovative technology systems or products, and Matt Shobe and his panel of judges selected up to two winning teams to receive the Prize each year—including $10,000 in startup funding ($5,000 for two teams); office space; and one-on-one mentorship from faculty and industry professionals. By the end of the year, the teams had a functional prototype and a refined sales pitch.
